Evelyn C. Weaver Retired Columbia County Deputy Treasurer Evelyn C. Weaver, 94, of Route 23, Claverack, NY. passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Clara Storms. She graduated from Hudson High School and Mildred Elly Business School. Mrs. Weaver was secretary to the Canada Dry plant manager and to the principal of Charles Williams School, Hudson, NY. Together with her late husband, Bernard Riley, they owned and operated Riley's Grocery Store at 209 Warren Street in Hudson from 1950 to 1966 when Mr. Riley passed away. In 1968 she became bookkeeper for the Columbia County Treasurer. In 1971 she was appointed Columbia County Deputy Treasurer under Anne Twaddell. Mrs. Weaver was a member of Columbia Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxilary and a past member of the Elks Auxilary. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Hudson. She is predeceased by her husbands, Bernard Riley, Everett Miller, Sr., and Ellsworth Weaver; long time companion, William Egan, Sr., and her sister, Catherine Faatz. Mrs. Weaver is survived by her daughters, Florence (Emery) Taylor of Hudson and Susan (William) Stickles of Syracuse, her sister, Florence Osswald of Hudson, her loving grandson, Mark Taylor of Hudson, grandchildren William, Scott, Sean and Jessica Stickles of Syracuse, two great- grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. A calling hour will begin at 10 am Thursday at the Bates & Anderson - Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home. Services will follow at 11 am Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hudson City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or to the Greenport Rescue Squad.
