John W. Bratton Carpenter John W. Bratton, 77, of Hudson, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012 at his residence. Born October 21, 1935 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Thomas and Caroline K. Bratton and the step-son of Frances Bratton. Mr. Bratton graduated from Hudson High School in 1953 and Albany Business College in Albany, NY. After graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for 2 years. John was an active member and communicant of Emanuel St. John's Lutheran Parish in Hudson. He was a popular musician with many area bands in Columbia and Greene County for many years. John and his son were the owners of a contracting and painting business for over 25 years. Survivors include his wife, Arlene (Tkacy) Bratton of Hudson; two sons, Robert Bratton and David Bratton (partner, Megan Kisselburg) of Hudson; his daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jean and George Bednar of Hudson; his granddaughter, Stephanie Bednar of Hudson, two grandsons, Brian (Denise) Bednar and Richard Bratton (the late Sharon Bratton) of Hudson, his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Allen Higgins, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Evelyn Hummel, Janice Wischhusen, and Dorothy Howard. There will be no calling hours. Services will be conducted at 11 am today (Wednesday) at the Emanuel St. John's Lutheran Church, 20 South 6th St., Hudson. Pastor Betsy Diver will officiate.
