Mary A. Swintoka, 96, of Hudson, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, October 22nd, 2014. Born June 17th, 1918 in Hudson, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Giuseppina (Panella) Fino. She married Frank Swintoka on June 16th, 1946 in Hudson. He predeceased her in 1963. Mary retired as an Administrative Assistant from Hudson River Bank and Trust Company in 1994. She was a strong willed, determined, energetic, independent woman, who raised three daughters by herself after losing Frank. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved spending time with them. One of the highlights of her life was traveling to Italy to meet her extended family in Abruzzi. She is survived by her daughters, Marie (Robert) Gagen and Teresa (David) Fagan, and son-in-law, David Wadsworth, as well as her grandchildren, Emily Gagen of Chapel Hill, N.C., Cody Gagen of Greenport, and Scott (Lisa) Whitmore of Averill Park, N.Y. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Zachary and Joshua Whitmore, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth Whitmore. A calling hour will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28th, 2014 at Bates & Anderson - Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, followed by an 11 a.m. service at the funeral home.
