Joanne M. Walker February 17th, 1947 - March 26th, 2025 Joanne Marie Walker, 78 of Germantown passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025. Born in Manhattan, NY to the late Martin T. McHale and Joan Wall-McHale. Joanne lived a life of faith and service. She made it her duty to bring the love of Christ to all she encountered. She attended St. Patrick’s CCHS in Catskill, NY and graduated from CMH school of Nursing with an affiliation to pediatrics at Columbia Presbyterian and Hudson River Hospital for Psychiatric Nursing in Poughkeepsie. Joanne also attended Dutchess Community College, furthering her education in her professional career. She worked as a registered nurse at various institutions such as Columbia Memorial Hospital as a med surge nurse, the Adventist home for long term care, and Eden Park nursing home as a staff development in-service coordinator. She worked as a homecare nurse for the Eddy visiting Nurse association and remained with The Eddy as a liaison utilizing her knowledge and skills as a discharge planner at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Joanne not only worked hard in her professional life, but she also volunteered and gave herself to her community. She was a communicant and Eucharistic minister at Holy Trinity (St Mary’s) church in Hudson NY. Joanne loved teaching and was a catechist at St. Mary’s academy for many years bringing the love of Jesus to our youth. She was one of the original Alight Pregnancy center affiliates and campaigned to help the New Life Maternity home in Stottville. As a dedicated member of the Catholic Daughters, she has touched many lives. Her generosity and infectious smile will always be remembered in this community. Joanne was predeceased by her son James L. Walker (Trudy) and brother Brian McHale. Joanne is survived by her siblings Kevin (Sharon) McHale, Carol (Donald) McBride, and Dennis (Ellen) McHale. All that were privileged to know her knew how she cherished her family. The love of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the driving force in her strength and perseverance in her blessed life. Her surviving children are Dennis Walker, Michelle Walker (Martin Dibble Jr.), and Jennifer (Mark) Tomaso; grandchildren Sonja, Jason, Sarah, Danielle (Duncan), Cameron, Dylan, Denise, Mark II, and Connor; great grandchildren Aurora, Sonny, and Cooper. A special thank you to all her wonderful Doctors Nurses and Hospice staff for all their loving care throughout her journey. To all her friends and family at holy trinity we thank you for always being a constant source of faith and inspiration. She loved everyone more than words can express. Everyone Joanne encountered was left with an everlasting faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ. Calling Hours will be on Monday March 31st from 4pm-7pm at Bates and Anderson Funeral home in Hudson NY. Joanne will have mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Parish on Tuesday April 1st at 10:00am. Following the burial at cedar park cemetery there will be a celebration of life at St. Mary’s academy 301 Allen Street Hudson NY.
