Bertha Wallace Hallenbeck

August 21, 1927 - June 23, 2018

In loving memory of Bertha Wallace Hallenbeck who was welcomed into Heaven on June 23, at the age of 90. Born on August 21, 1927 in Hudson, NY, she was the daughter of the late Caroline and Harrison Miller of the Town of Livingston, NY and the sister of Elbert and Cecil Miller, whom also predeceased her. Bertha was the loving and caring wife of Charles S. Wallace who passed away in 1970 and the late Harold F. Hallenbeck who passed away in 2017 on this same date. She graduated from Hudson High School in June,1944. After high school, she began her nurse’s training and graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Hudson City Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She was selected to become a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps during her training. After graduation she began her nursing career working as an Obstetrical nurse on the maternity floor at Hudson Hospital (Columbia Memorial Hospital) until 1964. At that time, she continued as a nurse in the practice of the late Dr. Burton O. Krafte (OBS/GYN) until her retirement in 1990. She was a past member of the Greenport Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson, NY. She is survived by her two loving children: Charles (Sharon) Wallace Jr. of Red Hook and Carol (Jeff) French of Philmont, Stepsiblings: Barbara Hallenbeck, James (Barbara Knox) Hallenbeck and the late Mary (Tom) Paquette of Colorado Springs, Grandchildren: Matt (Sue) Wallace, Kara(Victoria Castillo) French, Darrin French, Carey(Martin) Kindl, and Great Grandchildren: Hunter Wallace, Tessa Wallace and Eva French Castillo; as well as seven nieces, four nephews and several cousins. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, June 26 from 4pm-7pm at Bates & Anderson -Redmond Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green St. Hudson, NY 12534. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 27 at 10am in St. Mary’s Church, Hudson, NY. Burial will follow at the Cedar Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Parish in Hudson, NY.
