Surrounded by his loving family, Harold D. Horner, 79, of Columbiaville passed away Wednesday August 15, 2018 after a long courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Born August 8, 1939 at home in Rossman, NY, he is the son of Frank and Clotilda (Oelkers) Horner. Harold graduated from Hudson High School in 1957, then served in the United States Air Force. He served 17 months in South Korea, and was Honorably Discharged in 1961 as an A/1C. Careers included working for Gifford-Wood, The US Postal Service in Chatham, NY, and Mid-Hudson Automatic Sprinkler System, from which he retired in 1995. After retirement, Harold went on to work for Camphill/Triform in Livingston, NY. He will by dearly missed by all the clients and staff of the Triform family. Harold served as Town Justice for the Town of Stockport from 1996 until his passing. He was a 63 year life member of the Stockport Fire Co, and was also a member of the New York State and Columbia County Magistrates Association. Harold recently restored a 1965 Ford Mustang which belonged to his son Jeffrey. He loved bringing his car to shows, and was very proud of the many awards it has won. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Mary Ann (Smith) Horner of Columbiaville, sister Roberta Healy of Johnstown, NY, brother Gary Horner of Stuyvesant, NY, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his son Jeffrey Horner and brothers William and Frank Horner Jr. Visitation hours will be Friday August 24, from 1-3pm and 6-8pm at the Bates & Anderson Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home. Funeral services from the funeral home will be Saturday August 25, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Harold may be made to Stockport Masten Park c/o Town of Stockport 2787 Atlantic Ave. Hudson NY, the Stockport Fire Co, or Community Hospice of Columbia Greene 47 Liberty St. Catskill, NY 12414.
