Hazel A. Ormerod, 90, of Claverack, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Pine Haven Nursing Home. Born in Clermont, NY on May 1, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Parker and Annie Cross. Mrs. Ormerod was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col. Walter L. Ormerod. For 25 years she was a U.S. Air Force Officer's wife. She also worked as a teachers' aide at Ockawamick Central School in Claverack. Hazel was a member of the Reformed Dutch Church in Claverack and a member of Columbia Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, W. Parker and Dorothy Ormerod of New Windsor, NY, her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and James Mackerer of Claverack, and five grandchildren, James (Carrie) Mackerer of Virginia, Andrew (Meagan) Mackerer of New Jersey, Matthew (Karen) Mackerer of Copake Falls, Parker (Mike Pretty) Ormerod of Rochester, and Kendra Ormerod of Saranac Lake, NY. Also surviving are four step-grandchildren, Farlae (Thomas) Gordon of Cornwall, Erin Buttner of Newburgh, Thomas (Emily) Buttner of Cornwall, and Michael Junior of Chicago, IL, three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Sarah, and Zachary Mackerer, and a step-great-granddaughter, Kelsey Rebele. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Parker and Stanley Cross. Calling hours are 4:00 - 7:00 pm Friday at the Bates & Anderson - Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 10:30 am Saturday at the Reformed Dutch Church in Claverack. Burial will be in Mellenville Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
