John F. (Jack) Curry, Sr. 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2021 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY. Born in the Bronx, NY in 1932, Jack was the son of the late George J. and Mary Fraser Curry. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Mary A. (Gormley) and his two brothers, George J. Curry, Jr. and Ronald J. Curry. A devoted father and grandfather, Jack is survived by his six children John (Judith) Curry Jr., Mary Alice Curry, Joseph Curry, all of Troy, NY, Thomas (Joyce) Curry of Albany, NY, Eileen (Kevin) Kendall of South Brunswick, NJ, and Daniel (Stephanie) Curry of Valatie, NY and his eight grandchildren, Mary Ellen, Patrick, Darcy, and Katie Kendall and Colleen, Daniel Jr., Erin, and Liam Curry. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Kathleen (Richard) Flavin of Malta, NY and several nieces and nephews. Jack graduated from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, Brooklyn, NY and Siena College, Loudonville, NY. At Siena, he enjoyed a successful college basketball career, making many lifelong friends and was inducted as a member of the Siena Athletics Hall of Fame. After college and military service, Jack and Mary moved to Hudson, NY where they raised their family. He continued his love for basketball, coaching the high school varsity team at St. Mary’s Academy for 14 years. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Church. Jack worked at IBM Corporation, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Hudson Elks Club #787, Knights of Columbus, and Ancient Order of Hibernians. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday April 6, at 10:00am from Holy Trinity Church St. Mary’s Parish, East Allen Street, Hudson, NY followed by interment at Cedar Park Cemetery. Visitation hours at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home are Monday April 5, from 4:00-7:00pm.
