Lawrence John Hermance Sr., 80, of Livingston, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2016 at Livingston Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born September 1, 1936 in Hudson, NY, he is the son of Charles and Dorothy (Ham) Hermance, both predeceased. Mr. Hermance retired from IBM after 36 years of employment. Following retirement he continued to work for the Health Care Consortium. Lawrence was a member of the Livingston Memorial Church of Linlithgo, and was former coach of the winning Taghkanic Indians Little League team. He was also a member and past Chairman of the Town of Livingston Planning Board. Mr. Hermance was a life member and Past President of Livingston Pumper Co. #1, where he served also as Livingston District Chief, and served on the Board of Fire Commissioners. Mr. Hermance loved his family and thoroughly enjoyed the antics of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed meeting his five great grandchildren, and looked forward to spending time with them. He loved trips to the Outer Banks and was always ready for a game of cards. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 59 years Eleanor Kline Hermance of Livingston, daughter Cynthia (Norman) Burtt of Conway, SC, son Lawrence (Lori) Hermance Jr. of Valatie, daughter Suzanne (Kevin) Holdridge of Cairo, and daughter in law Stacy Hermance of Livingston. He is also survived by grandchildren Shelly Gilbert, Stephanie Burtt, Ashley Bard, Meghan Hermance, Lawrence Hermance III, Brittney Brockett, Kelley Steele, Kyle Hermance, Jennifer Holdridge, and Ryan Holdridge. Great grandchildren Connor and Alaina Gilbert, Avery Wade, Abigail Brockett, and Logan Steele, and nieces Sabrina, Melissa, and Nichole, along with a large extended family. Mr. Hermance was predeceased by his son Scott Hermance in 2006, and his brother Gordon Hermance (W Va) in 2014. Funeral services are Monday January 2, at 11:00am from the Bates & Anderson Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
