Martha M McDonald Born Sept 14, 1927 Died Nov 22, 2014. On November 22, 2014 Martha McDonald passed away peacefully at Columbia Memorial hospital. She was born Martha Bogan and was the only daughter of Alice Bogan (Winans) and Harold Bogan, Both deceased. She has a loving brother, Harold Bogan, of Syracuse NY and Grand Rapids MI. She married Joseph F. McDonald, of Hudson, (who predeceased her) and leaves two children, Joseph P. McDonald of Dayton, Ohio and Brigid Fonda of Livingston NY. In heaven, she joins her sisters in law, Claire Bogan of Syracuse and Hanora McDonald of Hudson. She was a loving aunt to Karen Scripsema, Kathy Slazik, Harold Bogan and Michael Bogan, of Syracuse NY. Martha was very close to the children of her beloved cousin, Helen Chaikowski (deceased). She was loved and admired by John Chaikowski, Mary lou Chaikowski, Jean Chaikowski, Walter Chaikowski and Mark Chaikowski. She leaves two Grandchildren, Rose McDonald and Max McDonald of Centerville Ohio. She loved her daughter in law, Christine McDonald and her family, the Collins’ from Cincinnati, Ohio. She also leaves behind a future son in law, Dr. Louis Di Giovanni. She graduated from St Mary’s school in Hudson NY and worked for over 30 years with New York Telephone. She enjoyed her work but retired when her husband passed in 1986. She resided in Hudson her whole life and lived on McKinstry Place, where she had many friends and neighbors including, the Moores, Englekes, Merantes, Morrisons and LeChance family. She was an avid walker and enjoyed reading and bible study. Her two greatest gifts were an unbending faith in Jesus Christ and a god given ability to make and keep friends. Some of her closest friends included, Marylou Groll and her family as well as Barbara Ellsworth and her children; Jacqueline, Stephanie, Michael and Jennifer. Molly’s friends also included Jeannie Miller, Jeanette Wyant, Priscilla Moore, Ann Morrison and Pat and Sonny Smegoski. So many other people were connected to her and were loved by her that it would be impossible to list them all. A public viewing will be held at Bates and Anderson Funeral home 110 Green St, on November 25, 2014 from 4-7 pm. A mass of Christian burial will commence at 10 am November 26, 2014 at St Mary’s Church on East Allen St In Hudson NY. The family wishes to thank the staff at Livingston Hills and the staff at Columbia Memorial Hospital for their dedication and support of Molly.
