Regina Kolodziej, 88, of Hudson, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Columbia Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born July 2, 1927 in Bialystok, Poland, she was a Holocaust survivor in the Siberian Labor Camp from 1940-1942 where she and her entire family were deported from Eastern Poland. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Josefa Leonczuk Borysiewicz. She immigrated to the United States in 1947 and settled in Columbia County where she and her husband fruit farmed for forty-two years. In addition to working on the farm during the day she worked as a packer at night at the Universal Match Factory for thirty-seven years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was passionate to all animals big and small. Regina was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson. Surviving is her daughter Maria Kolodziej-Zincio, her grandchildren Alicia Taranto-Rogers, Michelle Langella, and granddaughter Kayla Taranto. She will be remembered by her warmth, compassion, generosity, kind spirit and her strength and endurance. Calling hours are Monday, December 21, from 4:00- 7:00 pm at Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home. Prayers will be from the funeral home Tuesday, December 22,, at 9:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Columbia-Greene Humane Society.
