Robert Albert Pruss, Sr., 72. of Ancram, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Manhattan on March 14, 1942, he was the son of the late Waldemar and Louise (Gieseke) Pruss. Bob was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the New York State Parks in the Taconic Region. He loved nature and was an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman. On the outside he presented a hard shell, but had a heart of gold on the inside. He loved helping others and was always there doing the right thing. His greatest love was for his family, children, and friends. Surviving are his beloved wife, Deborah "Debbie" (LaManno) Pruss of Ancram; his devoted children, Robert A. (Wendy) Pruss, Jr. of Poughkeepsie and Susanne (Louis) Rossero of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Amanda and Stephanie Pruss and Michael, Steven, and Joseph Rossero, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Waldemar Pruss, Jr.. Visiting hours are 4 - 7 pm Tuesday at the Bates & Anderson - Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home. Services will follow at 7 pm at the funeral home.
