Stephen "Sonny" Durham

Stephen “Sonny” Durham, 78, of Hudson New York passed after a long illness on August 3, 2020 at Pine Haven Nursing Home in Philmont New York. He was born to the late Jesse and Aretta Durham on November 17, 1941 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson. Stephen worked for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services until his retirement. When Stephen wasn’t busy tending his garden or his home Bottle Recycling Center, he could be found engaging in a game of Pinochle, laughter, or a great debate. He really loved to debate. Stephen was quite the character. Everyone who knew him, loved him. Stephen is survived by his daughter Nicola Durham of Waterford NY, his sons Alex Durham of Hudson and Stephen Durham (Angela) of California, his niece Leomi Bell of Hudson, his brothers Matthew Bell of Utica, NY and Manuel Fernandez of Cohoes, NY, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Along with his parents, Stephen is predeceased wife Ruth and son Stephen Jr., his brothers Joseph Durham, William Bell, and James Thomas, and his sisters Jessie Travis, Frances Durham, and Caretha Bell. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
